President Trump’s right-hand man, Vice President Mike Pence, stayed mostly silent on recent doings, including the President’s Supreme Court nomination, until today.
What Pence had to say about Brett Kavanaugh will certainly have the left wound up once again…
On Wednesday, during a trip to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Vice President Mike Pence spoke about Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh. Pence expressed enthusiasm for President Trump’s pick, calling him a “leader among jurists.”
“President Trump has been working to keep the promises that he made to the people of Iowa and the people of this country,” Pence said. “Monday night, when the president kept another promise that he made to appoint judges who will faithfully interpret the Constitution of the United States as written, when he announced Judge Brett Kavanaugh as the newest nominee to the Supreme Court of the United States.”
The Vice President praised Judge Kavanaugh, calling him a “good man” and echoed Trump’s statement that the potential justice has “impeccable credentials, unsurpassed qualifications, and a proven commitment.”
Pence continued, “As his record of nearly 300 opinions over the last 12 years on the District of Columbia Court of Appeals demonstrates, Judge Kavanaugh is a leader among jurists in this country. In fact, 12 of his opinions, including some dissenting opinions, were adopted by the Supreme Court of the United States and are now a part of the law of the land.”
The Vice President had previously spoken highly of Judge Kavanaugh on social media:
Judge Kavanaugh is a man of great integrity, intellect and reverence for the laws and Constitution of the United States. The US Senate should move swiftly to confirm Judge Kavanaugh as the newest justice to the SCOTUS!
