The migrant “caravan” (as the Democrats call it — when it reality it’s literally a small army), is reportedly just around 1000 miles south of the U.S. border. And while that may sound like a really long way, on the other hand, at their current pace, in a few weeks, they’ll be closing in.
Many high-profile conservative commentators like Newt Gingrich, Bill O’Reilly and even comedian James Woods, have all stated that the army of migrants is a paid political stunt by deep-pocket liberal activists like George Soros. Of course the liberal media has spent the past few days denying that and writing it off as conspiracy, but that’s to be expected.
The most alarming update as of today are the numbers. Mexican media has reported a new number that could get even larger over the coming weeks.
Washington Times reports:
Mexican police, who failed to stop them at that country’s border with Guatemala, now serve as escorts for the caravan as it barrels north, its members clear that they have no intention of staying in Mexico, and have eyes only for the U.S.
New estimates cited by El Universal, a Mexican newspaper, say the caravan now has 14,000 people, many of them already in Mexico while others still wait.
One woman quoted by BBC, identified as Maria, walking with her husband and two children, said they are looking for work.
That would put them in the category of illegal migrants, not asylum-seekers. Yet many appear confident they can take advantage of lax U.S. laws to gain a foothold in the shadows.
The numbers, whether it be 5,000 or 20,000 when it’s all said and done, pose an unprecedented risk to the men and women who proudly protect and safeguard the American border.
President Trump has, more than once, floated the idea of military intervention when they arrive.
