BREAKING: NFL Team Owners Form Plan To Replace Goodell…

Daily Snark

NFL owners have had discussing about potentially replacing current NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and one interesting name has reportedly surfaced.

According to ESPN’s Don Van Natta Jr. and Seth Wickersham:

“The owners, though, have considered other successors. A confidant of one owner reached out to gauge whether Adam Silver, the NBA commissioner, would be interested in running the NFL, to which Silver immediately said no.”

The 55-year old Adam Silver joined the NBA in 1992 and has worked his way up, working various roles including NBA Chief of Staff and Special Assistant to the commissioner before becoming the successor to David Stern back in February 2014.

Since then, the NBA has seen an immense increase in popularity and financial gains.

In Oct. 2014, the NBA agreed to a nine-year, $24 billion television rights deal with ESPN and TNT, which was valued at three times more than the previous agreement, New York Times’ Richard Sandomir reports.

In addition to that, last year’s Golden State Warriors – Cleveland Cavaliers 2017 NBA Finals was the most watched NBA Finals series since 1998.

Unfortunately for the NFL, that hasn’t been the same as Van Natta Jr. and Wickersham notes:

“TV ratings and favorability polls have drifted downward this autumn,” which has produced “dissatisfaction with Goodell’s stewardship” among some owners.”
