The ratings for “Monday Night Football” dropped by 18 percent over the week prior, according to Deadline Tuesday.
The night, which started out with three Miami Dolphins players taking a knee during the national anthem in Charlotte, North Carolina, did nothing to help the NFL and ESPN as the Carolina Panthers destroyed the Dolphins 45-21.
Last night’s game scored a 6.2 in metered market results. That puts it almost dead-even with the lowest game so far of the 2017-2018 season. That came from October 17th, when the Tennessee Titans scored a 36-22 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. The night earned a 6.1 in metered market results and came in with 8.4 million viewers and a 2.9 rating among adults ages 18-49.
In comparison, last week’s battle in the Motor City when the Detroit Lions beat the Green Bay Packers scored a 3.8 rating in the key demographic with 11.08 million viewers.
The Monday night game was also down by 22 percent over the week 10 game during the 2016-2017 season on November 14th, when the Cincinnati Bengals beat the New York Giants. That game came in with a 3.6 rating among adults ages 18-49 with 10.7 million viewers.
The 2017-2018 season has been rocked by national anthem protests and ratings slides for the league and networks.
