The liberal anti-gun narrative is full of holes, lies and misinformation that it’s a waste of everyone’s time and energy to engage in debate with them, as they literally haven’t a clue what they’re talking about.
Not knowing anything about firearms is perfectly OK — but liberals tend to have very little gun knowledge yet they still try to argue against them. That’s the waste of energy and time. I wouldn’t walk into an auto shop and debate how a particular engine works because I don’t know and I wouldn’t want to look stupid.
Bump stocks are not the problem behind mass killings. Sure, they were used once (in Las Vegas), but concentrating resources and time on banning an item that will make no significant difference in shootings (bad guys kill people with or without guns).
Denver is learning that lesson right now…
In the latest news concerning the failure of gun control, not a single bump stock has been surrendered to the Denver Police Department since the city’s ban in late January.
A bump stock is a device used to modify a semi-automatic, increasing the rate of fire to a near-automatic weapon. The call to ban such devices first hit the mainstream after the Las Vegas mass shooting, where bump stocks were used by the shooter. Democrats, some Republicans, and even President Donald Trump have endorsed the idea of a bump stock ban.
According to Denverite, the Denver Police Debarment invited city residents to turn in their bump stocks in February.
“If Denver residents are in possession of a bump stock, and would like to turn-in their bump stock to the Denver Police Department, they can do so at any Denver Police Station,” said a Facebook post from the department.
So far, a grand total of zero have been surrendered to law enforcement.
The clearly ineffective ban was introduced by City Councilman Rafael Espinoza and passed with just a single “no” vote.
In late February, President Trump said he would effectively ban bump stocks himself if Congress refused to act.
“Bump stocks, we are writing that out. I am writing that out,” he told a gathering of state governors at the White House. “I don’t care if Congress does it or not, I’m writing it out myself.”
“You do a rule, have to wait 90 days,” the president continued. “That’s sort of what’s happening with bump stocks. It’s gone, don’t worry about it. It’s gone, essentially gone, because we are going to make it so tough, you’re not going to be able to get them. Nobody’s going to want them anyway.”
“A bump stock, you shoot rapidly but not accurately,” Trump added. “The bullets come out fast, but you don’t know where the hell they’re going. That’s why nobody even really, too much, came to its defense. He used it in Las Vegas. He was using bump stocks in Las Vegas, as you know. So, I’m getting rid of them.”
